I am, after all, cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Shreyas Joshi – About Me

Posted by shreyasvjoshi on June 1, 2016

~

Some individuals, it is true, are more special. This is natural selection. It begins as a single individual born or hatched like every other member of their species. Anonymous. Seemingly ordinary. Except they’re not. They carry inside them the genetic code that will take their species to the next evolutionary rung. It’s destiny.

Well, with all the humility and the obvious hyperbole aside, here’s something about me in a nutshell –

I am Shreyas Vasant Joshi (a not-so-unique combination of a very common name and surname made me add my father’s name in the middle which resulted in my name being shortened to and christened as SVJ in college), born and brought up in Nagpur. My school and college days were both spent blissfully ignorant of the outside world – 22 years here (1992 – 2014!) in Orange City – the geographical centre of India.

Celeb bhau
Speaking of family – this is me with Vaibbhav Tatwawadi, the celebrity from Nagpur who also happens to be my brother!
Family
Spending almost a quarter of a century at my hometown has taught me how my family is the strongest support system in the world.

I graduated from VNIT, Nagpur with a B. Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

Thereafter, I worked in Goldman Sachs, Bangalore (2014-16, coupled with a brief 2-month stint as an intern earlier in the summer of 2013) and since then Bengaluru is like my second home. Fortunately, the stars aligned, and post-CAT 2015 I am now looking forward to an extended stay here with two more wonderful years at the place to B!

I am a huge SRK fan (of Shah Rukh the real-life rags to riches story, not exactly the actor / movie-star) and a self-confessed BATMANiac!

Goldman
My friends made this for my last birthday in Nagpur!

I idolize Sachin, and hugely admire Messi and Federer.

FCB
May 2016 – getting to watch Messi score at Camp Nou live! Dreams do come true.
Federer
September 2014 – getting to watch Federer play in the US open. It doesn’t get ‘Betterer’ than this!

Amongst the current crop of Indian cricketers, I love Dhoni and Kohli (having been a wicket-keeper batsman myself for my school team!)

Ind vs Aus
April 2015 – Watching the ICC 2015 CWC semi-final live from the Sydney Cricket Ground only increased my respect for the pressure of a billion expectations that Dhoni, Kohli and our Men In Blue carry on their shoulders.

Other hobbies include – Biblophilia (book-lover / voracious book-reader), pompophilia (okay I made this one up – a love for pompous words when other equally efficient common words are available) and a vegetarian foodie (yes, we do exist!).

Foodie
Who said veg food is not as delicious or as good-looking as non-veg food!?

I love to drive (my bike to beat the heavy traffic of big cities, and cars on the awesome highways), permanently infected with the incurable wanderlust fever – travelling is not just an escape for me, but a necessary and vital part of my life!)

NY skydiving
Up above the world so high!
Bike
1100 kms bike ride from Bangalore to Nagpur. Gruelling yet an unforgettable experience!
Scuba
Scuba diving at Andaman!

Engineer by profession, and an aspiring writer, I make humble attempts to create something worth reading on my blog (do check out the archives).

Social
At a social awareness drive during the college cult fest – Be the change you wish to see in the world!
The Presis
What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.

I am an avid Facebooker / Instagrammer and I have used them as my online journal over the past few years. Pictures are worth a thousand words, that’s why this post is full of images picked up from some of the most memorable part of my life. 🙂

Ipso Facto, videos must be worth a thousand pictures – so here’s something Facebook created for me a while back ( a lot of wonderful things have happened since, but that’s a story for another day.)

Regards,

Shreyas Joshi
