Some individuals, it is true, are more special. This is natural selection. It begins as a single individual born or hatched like every other member of their species. Anonymous. Seemingly ordinary. Except they’re not. They carry inside them the genetic code that will take their species to the next evolutionary rung. It’s destiny.
Well, with all the humility and the obvious hyperbole aside, here’s something about me in a nutshell –
I am Shreyas Vasant Joshi (a not-so-unique combination of a very common name and surname made me add my father’s name in the middle which resulted in my name being shortened to and christened as SVJ in college), born and brought up in Nagpur. My school and college days were both spent blissfully ignorant of the outside world – 22 years here (1992 – 2014!) in Orange City – the geographical centre of India.
I graduated from VNIT, Nagpur with a B. Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering.
Thereafter, I worked in Goldman Sachs, Bangalore (2014-16, coupled with a brief 2-month stint as an intern earlier in the summer of 2013) and since then Bengaluru is like my second home. Fortunately, the stars aligned, and post-CAT 2015 I am now looking forward to an extended stay here with two more wonderful years at the place to B!
I am a huge SRK fan (of Shah Rukh the real-life rags to riches story, not exactly the actor / movie-star) and a self-confessed BATMANiac!
I idolize Sachin, and hugely admire Messi and Federer.
Amongst the current crop of Indian cricketers, I love Dhoni and Kohli (having been a wicket-keeper batsman myself for my school team!)
Other hobbies include – Biblophilia (book-lover / voracious book-reader), pompophilia (okay I made this one up – a love for pompous words when other equally efficient common words are available) and a vegetarian foodie (yes, we do exist!).
I love to drive (my bike to beat the heavy traffic of big cities, and cars on the awesome highways), permanently infected with the incurable wanderlust fever – travelling is not just an escape for me, but a necessary and vital part of my life!)
Engineer by profession, and an aspiring writer, I make humble attempts to create something worth reading on my blog (do check out the archives).
I am an avid Facebooker / Instagrammer and I have used them as my online journal over the past few years. Pictures are worth a thousand words, that’s why this post is full of images picked up from some of the most memorable part of my life. 🙂
Ipso Facto, videos must be worth a thousand pictures – so here’s something Facebook created for me a while back ( a lot of wonderful things have happened since, but that’s a story for another day.)
